Aromatherapy As A Gift Idea

Aromatherapy has become so popular today because the sense of smell has such impact on the human brain and how a person feels making it a unique gift idea. There are aromatherapy products for energy, relaxation, peace, stress reduction and many other moods that can be affected by scent. Why not a gift of aromatherapy?

Aromatherapy gifts can be found for every room in the house. A simple, elegant and very fun to receive gift is a single or a set of aromatherapy candles for the living area or bedroom. These scented candles are identified as to which mood they are intended to invoke. A great choice for a living room candle or candle set is one that increases romance, peace or serenity. For the bath, relaxation is usually the preferred choice. Choose the scent your recipient will most enjoy. Wrapped in a bright wrapping paper or placed in an attractive gift bag, aromatherapy candles make a great gift idea.

Why not create or purchase an aromatherapy gift basket for the bath? Bath salts, bubble bath, candles, moisturizing lotion and bath beads can be packaged along with a loofah, facial brush and other personal care items and make a gift idea come to life that is beautiful and smells great. It is best to select a theme if you are creating your own gift basket of aromatherapy bath products. Most of the ready-made gift baskets containing aromatherapy items will be created along a theme as well. The reason is that the scents should compliment one another rather than clash. To add a unique touch, wrap the gift basket along with a rubber ducky. Even if the recipient doesn't have children, the whimsy of the rubber duck will get a smile.

For Christmas or Hanukkah, select a theme of "joy" for the aromatherapy gift. There are many scents created just for the holiday season that smell so great and set the mood for celebration. Candles, oil lamps, incense sticks or cones all make wonderful scented gifts.

To give a gift that will scent an entire room for hours and hours, select one of the light bulb rings on which a small drop of essential oil is applied and the ring is placed on a lighted bulb. The scent creates a wonderful odor in the room for hours and hours without re-applying the oil. This aromatherapy gift usually comes as a set with the light bulb ring and one scent. You might want to select an addition essential oil scent to add to the gift. If so, choose an opposite aromatherapy, for example, give energy and peace together, or give serenity and stamina together. That way, the person who receives the gift can have a change when desired.

There are many ways to give aromatherapy gifts: essential oils, potpourri, personal care products, candles, incense, scented stones and many more. Choose the gift based on what the recipient's home. If the person loves candles, select that as the gift. If they are a person who treasures bath time, select bath-related aromatherapy gifts. There's an aromatherapy gift idea for everyone on your gift list.

Aromatherapy And Massage

The healing art of aromatherapy - the use of pure essential oils to maintain physical, mental and spiritual health - is a wonderful way of enhancing the therapeutic effects of your massage.

This chapter is not intended to be a complete guide to aromatherapy but it will cover some of the most versatile essential oils. There are, in fact, more than 200 plants from which essential oils are extracted.

Blending

Essential oils are extremely concentrated. Always blend them with a suitable carrier oil in the appropriate dilution when using them for massage. A few essential oils may be used undiluted to treat injuries such as wasp stings, cuts or burns.

The essential oil content in a blend should usually be between 1 per cent and 3 per cent. Use the following as a rough guideline:

5 ml carrier oil = 1 teaspoon 10 ml carrier oil = 1 dessert spoon 15 ml carrier oil = 1 tablespoon Add 1-2 drops of pure essential oil to 5 ml of carrier oil

A full body massage will require approximately 20 ml of oil.

Storage

Oils should always be stored in dark coloured rather than clear glass bottles as the oils deteriorate in sunlight. Amber coloured bottles are by far the best. Essential oils are volatile, so replace the caps immediately after use otherwise the oils will gradually evaporate. Always keep essential oils at an even temperature - avoid direct sunlight and shelves on radiators.

If you keep pure essential oils in amber glass bottles in a cool place, they should have a shelf life of approximately two to three years. Citrus essential oils have the shortest shelf life. Once an oil has been diluted in a carrier oil or cream, it will keep or only a few months.

Purchasing

It is important to buy only pure oils if you want to achieve the best results. Synthetic and adulterated oils carry with them the risk of unpleasant and harmful side effects. Essential oils may be adulterated by adding alcohol, synthetic products or cheaper essential oils. Make sure you buy pure essential oils, not oils that have already been diluted in a carrier oil.

Improve Your Health with Natural Aromatherapy Massage

Did you know that many of your common discomforts can be helped by natural aromatherapy? There are nerve endings in the nose that can bring the mind and body together by being stimulated. There are so many aromatherapy products available today like soaps, candles and diffusers that can easily be used every day. Whenever you are ready to move up to the next level and learn about essential oils, you'll be able to reap the benefits of this easily learned therapy and get the most out of it.

The oils used in the Aromatherapy Massage will vary based on individual needs and allergies. Typically, essential oils are made when you use a steam distillation method. This captures the smell and essence of the plant being used. Some oils can be made by using any number of the fallowing parts; petals, roots, leafs, buds, reigns, fruits, or bark. Of these oils, there are a couple oils that can be made using any part of the plant that is above ground. All these oils are expertly mixed within a base oil.

There are many ways to combine massage and aromatherapy. A method that is helpful for mental and emotional well being is to take a few moments to learn about acupressure points and massage the oils directly into those points.

One of the reasons massage using natural aromatherapy oils can be so helpful is because you are getting the benefits of direct physical application along with inhalation of the essential oil. Since the space is enveloped in the scent, anyone in the room will feel better, whether they are on the massage table or not.

Be sure you have some private time in a comfortable spot when you try out an aromatherapy session on yourself. One relaxing way is to soak in a scented bath before treating yourself to an aromatherapy massage that you perform on yourself. Locking the bathroom door can assure you that the relaxation you gain in the bath won't be lost before you do your massage. Allow enough time to properly apply the essential oils wherever they are needed on your body. Massaging gets the effects deep into the lower skin levels and will help improve circulation in the area you need it.

One way to assure that you get the time you need is to make an appointment with a professional for an aromatherapy massage. With today's hectic schedules, it is hard to find time at home without interruptions. Many spas that offer these massages will let you choose one of their own oil blends, or let you bring your own.

It doesn't matter if you give yourself an aromatherapy massage or if you choose to use a professional massage therapist what does matter is getting the most out of the experience. In order to get all the emotional and physical benefits, you need to get comfortable in a private setting.

Finally, you need to make sure you use the right essential oils that address your body's needs. If you have a headache, try rosemary and lavender oils rubbed into the back of your neck. For stiff joints and sore muscles, try mixing sage, basil and a base oil like jojoba or sweet almond oil in a four to one ratio. Add a little eucalyptus and your muscles and joints will be very happy.

Bring On The Love With Aromatherapy Candles

When you are trying to incite a romantic mood you need to have some good quality aromatherapy candles to arm yourself with. These aromatherapy candles will be what makes or breaks your romantic evening. You need to take special care when choosing the aromatherapy candles that you want to use as well. There is nothing like a terrible smell to turn someone off and nothing like a great one to turn them on. The trick is to know which is which. Remember that what smells good to you may not smell good to your partner.

When you are in the planning stages of your special night you need to find out what kinds of smells will thrill your partner. Men often respond well to vanilla. Some experts even claim that vanilla scents are a male aphrodisiac. So if your partner is a mail then you may want to get yourself some great vanilla aromatherapy candles. These will get him in the mood right as he walks in the door.

What makes vanilla such a good choice of aromatherapy candles is that it appeals to almost anyone, both men and women. Very few people dislike vanilla aromatherapy candles and they will not take away from anyone appetite. If you have some of these aromatherapy candles burning they will even make your dinner taste better. They put people in such a good mood and they make them hungry as well.

You can place your aromatherapy candles all over the house, but only in the rooms that you plan on spending some time in. You may want to mix in your aromatherapy candles with other non scented candles. If you have too many aromatherapy candles around the scent can become overwhelming and that is never good. You want your scented rooms to be subtle and stimulating. So one or two aromatherapy candles in a room at one time is a good idea.

You should also take care with the aromatherapy candles that you choose. If you want to mix the candle scents you need to watch carefully. Some scents will not mix together well at all. Before you have your special and romantic evening you need to test the smells together to see if they blend well. This is vitally important to your entire evening.

You may want to have your candles on the actual dinner table be regular non scented candles. Having aromatherapy candles on the table is probably not a very good idea as it can interfere with the flavors of the dinner itself. So keep the aromatherapy candles away from the dinner table and your dinner will be a bigger hit.

You can have aromatherapy candles in the bedroom as well but do not light these before you get in that room. You should never leave candles unattended for too long, especially if you have pets. They could knock them over and start a fire. Proper aromatherapy candle safety is necessary at all times.

Using Natural Aromatherapy Massage To Improve Your Health

One of the best ways to relax in the evening or morning after a hard day's work is to have aromatherapy done. This is a simple holistic way to relax and sooth the body. Aromatherapy is when someone takes oils and uses them in conjunction with a massage to create a perfect balance of relaxation. The essential oils used in this manner will soak into the skin, which, by the fragrance, can also have an effect on the mind and emotions.

A really nice introduction to aromatherapy is to get a massage with essential oils. Some people may prefer to try it on themselves at first, while others prefer to have their partner there so they can share this relaxing experience. When you are just beginning, it is very important to learn which ailments can be relieved by each essential oil. It is important to mix the essential oil with a base oil. This can be done by measuring out half an ounce of base oil and combining it with approximately five drops of the essential oil of your choice.

By combining massage and aromatherapy you can achieve mental and emotional well being. If used in conjunction with acupressure this can be of enormous benefit. A little time in reading up on this will be well worth the experience.

By combining natural aromatherapy with massage, you benefit in two ways. You get the hands on physical application of the oils as well as being able to inhale the scent of the essential oil. In fact, since the scent pervades the space where the massage takes place, everyone in the room will benefit from the aromatherapy, whether they get the massage treatment or not.

Since there are so many hectic schedules which don't allow one the chance to get the full experience at home, a relaxing and private choice is to check out a professional spa massage. Many spas will give you a choice between trying out what they offer, or supplying your own favorite blends of oils.

Getting the most from your experience is what's most important, whether the aromatherapy is self administered, or if you choose to seek out a spa. Being able to feel comfortable in a private setting is the key to getting all of the emotional benefits, as well as physical.

The final thought on the use of essential oils in massage is to make sure that what your body needs is addressed by using the right oil. Lavender and rosemary oils are great headache relievers when rubbed right onto the nape of your neck. A natural aromatherapy recipe consisting of sage, basil, base oil such as jojoba, in about a four to one ratio, will work great with eucalyptus to help out stiff joints, and sore muscles.

Aromatherapy Treatment for Children

If you are an advocate of the benefits of using aromatherapy regularly, then you may be considering promoting this natural holistic therapy to your children as they become enthusiastic and absorb information like a sponge when young and by incorporating it into their life at an early age, it would soon became a natural and accepted process for them and this may well continue throughout their lives.

Essential oils are distilled from flowers, wood, roots, leaves etc and are renowned for their various healing qualities worldwide but some are not suitable for use as an aromatherapy treatment on children. It is always best to research the compatibility of some oils with prescribed medication or conditions for example, and a qualified practitioner will be able to recommend a suitable oil for use at home and could give you some tips on mixing oils or those which could be used for healing purposes. Alternatively, there are some very good comprehensive books in the marketplace which will guide you when making your choice of oil.

An aromatherapy treatment has so many benefits and can instil a sense of happiness, love and well-being into your child and this would be therapeutic for both of you. It also gives you time together, to learn, to absorb and to bond. Quality time can often be difficult to find, so this is a wonderful way of capturing those moments. Ensure that the oil used is pure essential oil and not synthetic oil which would not be appropriate for use with children and could even be harmful.

Massage on children has huge beneficial affects and can be nurturing and loving and as well as being wonderful for health and happiness, can help to cement those naturally strong bonds. Be careful not to massage too hard or deeply into the muscles, the touch should be gentle and light and worked in the direction of the natural blood flow, firmer strokes upwards. For example: from wrist to shoulder.

Aromatherapy treatment for massage:

For sleep- 2 drops of Roman Chamomile and 4 drops of lavender mixed in base oil such as Almond. This can then be massaged gently into the skin and will induce good slumber.

Aromatherapy treatment for inhalation:

For sleep- 2 drops of lavender under the pillow will aid restful sleep

For alertness- Use 2 -4 drops lemon or bergamot and add to an oil burner. The oil added to water is gently heated by the candle below

Aromatherapy treatment for minor cuts and abrasions

Minor treatments-an equal mix of one part lavender and one part tea tree oil can be used on an abrasion. The lavender is soothing but it also has healing properties and the tea tree oil is an antiseptic. Apply to a bandage as opposed to directly to the skin as this would be too irritating.

Aromatherapy Spa

Aromatherapy is a type of natural physical and psychological healing method The uses of aromatherapy are many. Some people use aromatherapy candles or incense, and breathe in the soothing scent of various fragrances. Aromatherapy spa is on of them. Spa mean'health from water. The philosophy behind the spa is that total well-being of the body can be attained by focusing on three key things - wellness, fitness both physical and mental, and relaxation. Spas are only just catching on in India and are often very expensive. Aromatherapy spa is gaining popularity because of their therapeutic value.

Like lavender oil is used basically to treat sleep related disorders. Vanilla oil has a calming effect while ocean mist can enliven you. Around 15 to 25 drops of oil should be added in the bathing tub. These oils when added in the water will cause the color of water to change. It is always beneficial to mix oil with water to increase its effect. Also this oil should be stored in dark and shady place in a tight fitting jar. These oils penetrate and enter into the body pores. An ideal aromatherapy spa consists of one ounce sesame oil, three ounces almond oil, one and a half ounces olive oil half ounce wheat germ oil and one ounce canola oil.

Aromatherapy spa provides calming and relaxing effect to the mind. In addition, they evoke serenity around you and help in rejuvenation from within. They also reduce the physical tiredness and refresh you. However, expecting mothers should not go in for aromatherapy spas. Oil should be selected considering the skin type. Tea tree, marigold and lavender should be avoided in case of sensitive skin. In case of sensitive skin, floral waters can be used. Going for aromatherapy spa can cause a hole in your pocket. Thus, it becomes necessary and enjoyable to select oils on your own and create your own house spa.

It helps you detoxify all negativity around you and even increase the blood circulation. Also, even reduces respiratory problems. Most spas limit their selections to a few standards lavender and eucalyptus are popular—and claim only an enhancement of calming or energizing effects along with your body treatment, whether it is a mineral water bath, a body wrap or a massage. You can also create an aromatherapy spa at home quik and easy. For a whole body spa a few aromatherapy candles can add to the 'ambience' of your spa. Lavender, chamomile, ylang-ylang, sandalwood, sage, rosewood and cedar wood are all essences that relax your body and calm your mind. Select the one you like the most. Turn out the lights and soak into your bath.

What Are the Uses of Aromatherapy Mist?

Aromatherapy has been used for years as a way to promote relaxation and healing. If you are interested in beginning to practice aromatherapy, aromatherapy mist can be an easy way to begin the practice.

Should I Use Aromatherapy Mist?

Aromatherapy mist is a health conscious alternative to other body sprays. Released onto the body, it pleasantly scents your skin, and is also inhaled, which gives you the benefits of the essential oils found within.

Many aromatherapy practitioners use aromatherapy mist as a fast way to get the benefits of inhaling essential oils. If sprayed near the face when the practitioner will be sitting for several minutes, it is easy for inhalation to occur.

All Different Kinds

Many different aromatherapy mists can also be used as wonderfully scented body sprays. Always check on the packaging first however, to make sure they are safe for skin contact, as some mists are not diluted enough.

What Type of Mist is the Best?

Aromatherapy mists are divided into two kinds. Many mists include only one essential oil and are considered pure. Those which include several different essential oils are called blended, and can have more benefits.
